About Us
The Waltrip RamBand has close to 200 members. We are an all inclusive program that gives students many opportunities to succeed. At the heart of our program, Student Leadership is a huge aspect that we believe is essential to helping to guide students into becoming the leaders of tomorrow.

The Waltrip High School Band program is recognized as one of the top 5 Title I music programs in the United States. They are the Southwest Division Winners of the 2018 Inaugural Music Ed Alliance Dr. William P. Foster Project Award of Excellence.

Jazz Ensemble #1 won the 2019-2020 Play With Mintzer Award. This is a National Award, that will enable Waltrip to perform alongside Grammy Musician Bob Mintzer in a concert once we recover from the current pandemic.

The Ram Band has represented the State of Texas twice in Washington D.C. for the 2013 Presidential Inauguration Celebration and the 2015 National 4th of July Parade.

The Jazz Ensemble #1 has won many 1st Divisions and special awards at various Contests and Festivals They have also performed with world-renowned musicians, such as, Mic Gillette, Jon Faddis, Wayne Bergeron, Shelley Carroll, Andre Heyward, Vincent Gardner and many more.

The Wind Ensemble has earned superior ratings at the UIL Concert/Sight-Reading Band Contest and also advanced to the Area level for the TMEA Honor Band Contest.

The RamBand has traveled all over the country including visits to Colorado, California, Washington DC, New Orleans, Orlando, Atlanta and more!

Marching Season
2019 Area performance of
"Dancing with the stars"
The 2019 marching show received straight 1st divisions from the judges, and moved to the area competition, and got the change to compete for state. During marching season the band goes to many competitions to perform their show, while also going to football games.
